  SN W228039 is a Pattern 1914 rifle built by Winchester.  This rifle shows all matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, sight and butt plate.  The finish is original Winchester with sharp clear stampings.  The walnut stock is solid with issue and reissue service marks.  The bore rates at very good with sound rifling.  A military rifle for the Winchester or British military.  There is a brass cross plate over the stock disk SAY-CIE.  HSN 6615 which is a post WW2 export control tag from a French Colonial area.
