  • Description:

NSN.  A very early example of the Winchester Model 69 22 rifle with the very scarce (if not rare) original factory cardboard box.  This example shows its 25" barrel with the early pre war markings and a bright excellent bore.  This rifle retains its original receiver 96-B adjustable peep sight and its 97 ramp sight with hood.  This early rifle shows the 1st pattern stock and the protruding takedown screw.  The stock shows the majority of its original finish.  The 5 shot mag is original with the Model 69 designation.  This rifle was built prior to 1937 with all the early features.  Far scarcer than the rifle is the original cardboard Winchester box that comes with this piece.  The survival rate of boxes from the pre WW2 era is extremelty low.  The box is 30 1/4 X 6 1/2" X 1 5/8" deep.  The cover shows 2 hunters, Model 69 and a country scene background.  The bottom shows the Winchester promotion of cleaning products and ammunition.  One end label shows the 62 model.  The left end shows the remnants of an overlaid label for the Model 69 bolt action repeating rifle No 690.  The box is overall very sound with the corners reglued.  There is remnants of tape glue that can be removed with careful scraping and a few hours of patience. A scarce Winchester rifle with box.
