• Description:

  Winchester Model 1886 SN 88291 built 1894.  This piece shows a 26" full octogon barrel in 45-70 caliber.  The bore rates as bright excellent.  The barrel shows clear markings. It has the original sights and a dull blue finish with bright blue in the protected areas. Special order full takedown magazine as indicated in Cody information sheet. The full take down magazine shows the matching finish to the barrel and strong trace of finish on the nose cap.  The frame shows about 60% original finish  and the balance shows worn finish at the carry points.  The bolt shows 70% blue.  The wood rates as excellent oil finished with higher grain on the butt.  No breaks, cracks or sanding.  This rifle was built in the 1st year of the take down option. The full length octagonal barrel is scarcer than the short mag take down. A Cody sheet shows the recorded information relating to this rifle.
