  • Description:

SN 4126 is a Model 1903 Webly-Fosbery automatic revolver.  This piece is in the original 455 caliber, 6 shot with a bright, excellent bore.  This example is mechanically sound showing matching numbers.  The finish shows an overall blue grey with clear markings and uniform fine corrosion or pitting.  The finish appears to reflect extended usage and holster storage.  The top of cylinder strap shows a name, R.S. MacKenzie.  We have not been able to identify this former owner.  This pistol was sourced out of Victoria, B.C. which was the home of numerous retired army and navy officer both Canadian and British.  The finish suggests that this revolver was exposed to conditions related to trench use or salt air.  This name does not appear in the C.E.F. lists.  A search of naval or British army lists may disclose something.  it is intereting to note that the front sight blade is made up from a 1910 Canadian 10 cent silver coin.  The left grip panel shows a missing chip below the safety lever.  The Fosbery revolver is a relatively scarce item with only approximately 4900 built.  Few examples appear on the Canadian market.  This piece  is an excellent example for the price.  Restricted status and not for export.
