Serial # 8 is one of 50 Lee-Metford Trails Cavalry Carbines. Reference see page 81 of "The Lee-Enfield Final Edition" by Ian Skennerton. The trials were conducted in January 1894. The modified carbines showed the bend down belt lever, 6 RD magazine, wooden handguard. Photographed on that page it shows serial #32. This example shows a bright but corroded bore. The wood shows the broad arrow surplus out of service broad arrows mark. The disk shows a 1 over 1894 date which was the January 1894 trials date. A very rare piece for the serious Lee Enfield collection. The rarity of this item makes it very difficult to price.
