  • Description:

Antique US 1817 flintlock showing the lock  R& J.D. Johnson dated 1825.  Ref: Flayderman 9A-239 page 453.  This rifle was one of 3000 built 1824-1827.  This example shows an overall excellent appearance.  Most of the markings are clear and sharp, excellent wood and patchbox.  The barrel shows remnants of rifling but is particularly smooth.  The lock shows clear markings and as with so many of these rifles a reconversion back to flint.  All of the fittings appear to be original with a modern built rod.  The base of the barrel shows corrosion.  The balance of the metal is very good condition.  A sound representative example.
