- Description:
SN 4629229 is a relatively scarce M3 carbine scope unit mounted on an M1 carbine. This example shows the carbine receiver marked Rock-OLA over the serial 4629229 (no model mark) and a Rock OLA marked barrel no date. Overall the carbine remains in very good to excellent condition with a bright excellent bore. . This example show the infrared scope unit SN M3 4471 mounted on the carbine. The scope is from the 2nd contract dated 8-31-50. Basically there were far more scope units built than actual M3 carbines built or assembled. These units saw use in the Korean war and in the early stages of the Viet-Nam war. There are various sources of information in the books written by Larry Ruth and Bruce Canfield. Many scope units were surplused in the early 1960's. This carbine shows all original component parts with the exception of the U.S. T23 flash hider that was built in Spain.(See page 792 of" War Baby Comes Home" by Ruth). The scope unit comes with its original U.S. scope chest including some spare bulbs etc. The original power pack knapsack is included. We have no knowledge of the workings of the scopes. We understand that some 6 volt batteries can be adapted for use in this power pack. A scarce M3 carbine scope rig that is seldom if ever encountered in Canada. Restricted status but open for deactivation.
