  • Description:

SN K9559 is an excellent example of a Lee Enfield MKIII 303 caliber rifle.  This rifle shows a socket dated 1924 and a matching barrel dated 25.  This rifle was assembled at Enfield Arsenal probably early in 1925.  Matching bolts, receiver and barrel.  Bright excellent bore with clear crisp markings and excellent original blue on the aforesaid.  The nose cap and wood shows #8817.  Any post 1916 MKIII rifles are considered to be scarce especially with cut offs and regimental stock disks. This would suggest that this rifle was arsenal assembled in the period of time that the arsenals were basically doing work to keep them opened.  It also dates to the era of contract sales and the bulding various trial rifles that reverted back to the installation of the cut-off as in the Mark V (1922-1924). An overall excellent example for the Enfield collection.
