- Licensing Category: Antique
- Maker: Spfld
Antique U.S. Springfield pistol carbine dated 1856. This is one of only 4,021 pistol carbines built for the U.S. mounted troops. This example shows the correct 12" barrel with eagle head /V/P markings and 1856 dated tang. The bore shows strong rifling and overall corrosion. The lock is all original with both the action and the Maynard primer working correctly. The rod appears to be original. The wood is original but shows usage wear. The shoulder stock is a modern made copy built circa 1970. This copy shows a nice appearance with mellow brass fittings matching the pistol. An overall very good example of an unique US military pistol carbine. The pistol shows lot or assembly No 11.
