    U.S. Springfield antique flintlock musket dated 1833. Reference: see Flayderman, 9A-197.  This model was built in 69 caliber, 42" bright barrel.  The lock shows the US eagle, and the 1833 date.  The barrel shows the P & eagle proofs. Note :as per the above reference, most of these muskets were converted to percussion.  This example shows the correct bright barrel and a reworked touch hole. I would suggest that as with most was reconverted to flint.  It would appear that most of the lock parts are original.  The wood and bands are all correct and original with a visible inspector mark adjoining the sideplate.  The rod is a modern replacement.  A nice clean example of a US flint musket.
