U.S. 1808 Contract Flint Musket Built By Pomeroy

• Description:

  U.S. 1808 contract flint lock musket.  This example was built by Pomeroy from Pittsfield Mass. for various U.S. states.  With 42" barrel, original flint lock, the breech is marked SN Pover S.J. (Inspector) and M over the date  1810. The finish is overall brown.  The wood is sound and original.  The rammer is modern made. The left side of the stock shows a cartouche which appears to be BY over LM. This piece is referenced in Flayderman's guide under " Independent Makers 1808 flintlocks" page 447 8th Ed.
