  SN 15845 is a Model 1865 Spencer Carbine.  This example shows the 20" barrel with 6 groove rifling.  The bore rates bright very good to very good plus with strong rifling.  Reference see Flayderman's 9B-088 at page 520 and 521.  The barrel shows some scattered pitting.  This carbine was refinished at some point in time.  A sound example with "Stabler cut off" .Solid wood with a minor stress crack at the rear of the receiver in the area of the serial number. Please note that the magazine tube does not retain the cartridges.Reproduction tubes are available at a reasonable price.
