Snider MKII** Artillery carbine
- Licensing Category: Antique
- Maker: Enfield
- Model: MKII
- Caliber/Gauge: .577
- Description:
Snider MKII** artillery carbine. This model was the first pattern of Snider artillery carbines. This example shows all of the correct features of this variation. Ref. see page 130 of " A Treatise on the Snider" by Ian Skennerton . The lock is an Enfield 1861 with the correct inspector marks from the time of the conversion to Snider. This piece shows a number of unit marking on the butt #63 and 2-C over B. Unfortunately, at some point in time a prior owner had the barrel bored out to smooth and added a reproduction rod. Otherwise, this carbine is all correct. This piece comes with an original bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet shows an excellent blade and grip. The scabbard shows excellent leather and stiching. Based on the source of this item it probably saw service in Quebec. This artillery will make a very good display piece as is despite the bore problem.
