  SN 106205 is a Savage 1899 saddle Ring Carbine in 38-55 caliber.  This carbine shows a 20" barrel with a bright to very good bore with light corrosion.  This example is in the scarcer Winchester 38-55 caliber and shows it's obvious usage.  The barrel markings are clear.  The rear sight is a replacement of the original flip up sight.  The front sight is a replaced blade type.  The metal shows a reblued finish.  The wood is correct and original showing a typical repair at the tang.  Despite the aforesaid this is a relatively scarce Savage 38-55 caliber (1903-1917).  Sound tight action.  A piece for the Savage or saddle ring  carbine collection.
