A scarce Ross Military target SN 3688 (civilian) rifle MKII**.  See page 44 of the "Ross Rifle Story" and page 174 plate 117A serial # 4244.  This scarce variation of the Ross rifle remains in excellent overall condition.  Caliber 303, 30.5" barrel, bright vwry good to excellent bore, this example shows the middle (Enfield) rear sight removed from the base.  This rifle was factory mounted with a Canada Tool and Specialty Co. sight bridge. Dig 249 A, page 259 of the above reference.  This was mounted with the Sutherland MK2 wind-gauge rear sight plate 239A, page 253. This example shows 95% plus all original blue on the barrel.  The breech shows the marking 303/24 tons Canadian proof.  It also shows the DCP proof.  The receiver shows clear strong markings.  The bolt shows strong heat blue and case color:  The trigger guard unit shows faded blue and some spotting associated with usage.  The wood shows all of its original commercial finish with only minor usage marks and no butt swivel. Reference the current Blue Book page 1637 where this model Ross won almost all rifle matches from 1908-1913.  A scarce and hard to find variation of the Ross rifle and one that has survived without modifications. Note we advise that any Ross rifles should be checked by a licensed gunsmith prior to shooting.  A collector grade example.
