- Description:
Ross rifle bayonet converted to a hunting knife. For reference see pg. 316 of "The Ross Rifle Story" by John Chadwick. This piece is one of 2,209 bayonets and 1,963 scabbards sold as surplus to William Margolian of Monreal in 1944. These items were shipped to PAL Cutlery in Mass., USA, where some were altered to the current configuration. At a later date both knives and scabbards were surplus sale marked. This example remains in excellent plus condition and was probably never used for it's intended use as a hunting knife. Excellent plus leather, grips, blade and markings. A little piece of Canadian history from WW2. We have had many of these knives over the last 60 years, but none in unused condition as this. C broad arrow surplus marking on the right side of the pommel and front face of belt loop. The blade appears to have never been sharpened. A excellent piece for the Ross or bayonet collection.
