  • Description:

Military cut back Ross Model 1910 rifle.  This Mark III shows a 24.75" barrel with a bright excellent bore.  The receiver shows both the DCP and English nitro proofs.  This sample shows a serial # 4244  with strong original blue and trace of case color on the bolt.   This piece is identical to plate # 143 A at page 190 of the Ross Rifle story.  These guns were modified and issued initially in the period of arms shortages in Canada, (early WW2).  These were used for guard guns at military bases and facilities as well as guard guns on railway and essential services.  We have seen numerous examples over the years in Atlantic Canada.  We have also seen variations in barrel lengths and those with unit marks.  This piece is an excellent condition example.
