  • Description:

Antique flintlock full stocked trade musket.  This example shows the proper trade musket lock with the traditional bow, arrow and quiver marking.  The lock appears to be original flint and not a reconversion. The losk is secured by a serpent two screw side plate. The barrel is 37" showing British military proofs and an early British unit marking "63 Reg 2 HB".This barrel was probably salvaged from a military musket and shortened.  The stock and hardwear appear to be a standard British musket configerated.  The brass fittings appear to be correct and the same as most of the furniture as f found in" French Arms of the Era."  The tang of the butt plate shows an engraved name of a former owner of the gun,"GB Castongue P". Buttplate appears to be from a long land military musket.  This item came from an estate collection.  Unfortuantely, information on the backgound passed with the former owner.  A neat item for the trade gun collection.
