We are pleased to offer to the Canadian collecting community an exceptional pair of cannon barrel flintlock pistols built and marked Wilson London.  This pair are marked 1 & 2 with both pieces remaining in exceptional condition.  Wilson, Richard was a journeyman gunmaker in the company of gunmakers of London.  The Wilson family of gunmakers was circa 1725-1830s.  These pistols show a 3 stage 55/8 barrels, 60 caliber with excellent bores considering the age (bright with light surface staining).  The top of the breech is marked London.  The underside of the breech shows the 2 crowns and the GP7V marks as well as the RW mark.  Both barrels screw off smoothly without a barrel wrench.  These pistols show silver furniture. The escutcheon's show the helmut, trumpet, cannon and flags.  The butt cap is a grotesque mask.  The left side shows a silver flag and cannons.  All of the component parts appear to be original to the maker.  The pan, lockplate, lower breech and strap are all one piece.  The wood is all original and remains in sound excellent condition.  The metal shows an overall excellent appearance with only the slightest hint of tiny corrosion marks.  The magnifier is required to detect same.  The only replaced part appears to be the tang screw on pistol #2.  An outstanding pair for the serious collector of early British firearms.  These pistols are in the upper class pair built for the wealthy of the era.  We presume the pair were built in the 1725-1740 time period.
