- Description:
An original Baker rifle that was converted to percussion at an earlier date. The Baker shows it's original lock with the Crown GR mark crown brand arrow and Tower. This example shows a shootable bore with original strong rifling with typical corrosion. All brass components are original to the piece and the barrel shows it's original sights. The original lock plate shows light engraving as does the tang and hammer ( probably engraved by the gunsmith that made the flint ot percussion conversion). The wood is original to the piece but shows sanding by or for a former owner. Note the Baker rife remained in issue in Ontario to 1845. This item was sourced out of Ontario many years ago. A scarce item as is or candidate for reconversion to flint.
