SN BG8237 is a sporterized No 5 MKI Jungle Carbine built by the noted maker BSA Shirley (M47C). This carbine shows the front sight unit, nose cap and original butt plate removed. The 18 3/4" barrel shows a bright excellent bore while the mag was replaced with a commercial 5 shot magazine (made in England). The bolt SN BG8237 is original and show a No 1 bolt head. At the time of conversion the carbine was fitted with a Leupold compact M8 2.5 scope still with bright sound optics while a Packmayr rubber pad was fitted to the butt. Converted Jungle Carbines are not a common item. This carbine would make an excellent bush rifle.
