  • Description:

SN 21817 is one of the 2000 to 2300 Luger carbines built is the 1904-5 time frame.  This carbine was originally acquired and used by a rural Ontario trapper/ sportsman.  Despite it's uniqueness the Luger carbine was not a commercial success. Considering the survival rate of only 2300 carbines, any and all carbines must be considered to be a rare item.  The example, 21817, shows obvious usage but remains in collection grade condition.  This example shows all the matching numbers including the wood (butt & forstock).  The barrel shows a bright, excellent 7.65 bore with original sights in place.  The finish on this carbine is all original but shows dullness on the exposed areas related to usage by a former owner.  The finish overall rates in the range of 90+%.  The left grip panel is original showing the SN#17. The right appears to be a period replacement with SN 08.  Both grips remain in the same condition as the age and wear.  The grip safety bar was broken and replaced.  The bar SN 17 is included for benefit of future owner.  A less than common collection grade Luger priced in Canadian dollars.  Similar pieces are often in the US market for same price but in US dollars.  This example comes with two original wood bottom magazines, one is unmarked, the second show #8.  A scarce Luger seldom found on the Canadian market.  Restricted status
