Flintlock London Blunderbuss
- Licensing Category: Antique
- Maker: Enfield
- Model: Flintlock
- Caliber/Gauge: .50 Cal
- Description:
This item is a commerical Blunderbuss with the barrel marked warranted. There are no top barrel proofs indicating that it was built for the export trade, 18" barrel with an excellent overall appearance. The wood is commerical with checkering and excellent commerical brass fittings. This piece is mounted with a 3rd Model Tower lock which does not show a broad arrow crown ownership mark. The lock was expertly reconverted to flint and shows the KR marking for the well known English gunsmith, Kit Ravenshear who operated the firm of Normans of Framingham in Britian. He later moved to Nova Scotia and the USA and was hired to supervise and direct complete rearmament of the Fortress of Louisbourg in the 1980's. This attractive Blunderbus was formerly in the collection of the late Ross MacInnis and the late Edward Drost. An attractive Blunderbus which would be much more expensive if it didn't have a reconverted lock. Antique- not subject to permit.
