• Description:

  SN 9437 is a Canadian issued Lee Enfield MK 1 303 caliber carbine.  This example is one of the 2,200 pieces purchased from the R.O.F. Enfield in 1898/99.  These carbines were built without the back side leather cover.(see page 105 of "Defending The Dominion by David Edgecombe).  This example shows a very good to excellent bore with strong rifling and light corrosion, matching with sound finish and wood.  The metal shows 80 to 90% original blue with a mix of plum   All markings are clear and very crisp.  The butt shows the M&D and the Enfield roundel.  The wood is sound with no cracks or break.  This piece is an excellent example of the Canadian L.E.VC. carbine that probably saw service in the Boer War.
