  S27843 is a 1917 dated SHT LE MKIII*,caliber 303 WW1 issue rifle.  Overall this example shows an excellent appearance both as to metal and wood.  This rifle appears to have been in service both in WW1 and WW2. The matching barrel shows a 1944 date. The right side of the socket shows a FTR marking and suggests that this occured in 1944.  The bore rates very good showing the effects of corrosive ammo but remains shootable with worn but sound rifling.  Matching frame bolt and rear sight.  A WW1 era Enfield with an above average appearance.
