Lee Enfield No 1 military rifle built by BSA 1896, with all matching serial number 2594, rebuilt in 1909 as a sporter. The receiver shows the surplus markings and date 1909. The rear sight shows Ramsey Sutherland of New Glascow NS marking. The rifle appears to have been sporterized by an unknown Canadian gunsmith, probably in Nova Scotia. The example shows cutback wood with coarse checkering and a 25 1/2" barrel. The bore shows overall corrosion but appears to be quite shootable. This piece may be an item for a collection or as a great parts gun for the Enfield collector.
