German GEW 88 Commission Rifle

    SN8219R is a German GEW 88 (commission rifle).  This 7.92 X 57 rifle is marked GEW88 on the receiver and dated 1890.  These used the J bore cartridge.  Rifle shows an S on the receiver indicating that it was renamed to take the 7.9 X 57S military round. As with most , this rifle was sold and issued by the Turkish military.  Mechanically sound metal and wood.  Match barrel and action, other parts not.  The bore is bright very good with light corrosion.
