  Y09848 is a military 98 Mauser converted to a sporting.  This rifle was imported into Canada as part of a private collection.  This excellent plus Mauser Sporting rifle is described as follows. 8 X 57 (8mm Mauser) with bright excellent bore.  This piece shows a date of Sept 1967 as the time of conversion and proofing in Germany.  The barrel, receiver and bolt show the West German Federal Eagle Mark  proofed at the Munich proof house.  It is mounted with a German variable 4 X wgw 9890 scope with heavy cross hair and post similar to the WWII German sniper. With solid machined mount and pads, this piece shows 95% plus blue. The rifle is mounted on a European walnut, pistol grip, Monte Carlo and hand checkered stock. An excellent piece for the traditional hunter.
