- Description:
Antique French pistol, the barrel shows the name of the town Davineau and the makers name in silver. The right barrel flat shows a name that appears to be A, Garie? We cannot determine if this was originally a flint converted to percussion or built as a percussion piece. The lock is quite unique showing a spring loaded nipple protector that springs forward when the hammer is cocked. The 8 1/2" octagon barrel is flared to 1 to 1 1/2" at the muzzle. The barrel shows approximately 30 grooves. The wood is overall very sound with the exception of the worn checkering on the grip. We have not found a similar pistol in our research to date. This pistol appears to be quite unique and we would appreciate any information anyone might have regarding this item. Antique
