• Description:

  French 1840 percussion musket, 40 1/2" barrel, smooth bore now measures .75.  The back action lock is marked Maubeuge.  The barrel and metal are  overall grey/bright with pitting in the area of the bolster.  The wood is sound with no breaks or cracks.  There are traces of the original military or arsenal marks and a name of a former owner" John Schurmarher". Many of this type of musket came to America during the Civil War.  An item for the French or military collector.
