  SN 6249 is a post war FN Mauser Sporter Deluxe in 257 Roberts.  This is an earlier rifle.  This model was built from 1947 to 1963.  This example is all matching and with a 24" barrel showing a bright excellent bore.  The barrel and action were refinished at some point. The action was drilled and tapped for the installation of a scope. Unfortunately, the installer of the scope drilled a hole off center adjoining the existing rear tap hole. This was professionallly filled.  It shows the original sights, clear markings and some spots of light pitting mostly on the left side of the barrel (probably due to scabbard storage).  100, 200 & 300 yard rear sight.  The wood remains in excellent condtiion, fine factory checkering, pronounced cheek rest, original FN buttplate.  An excellent Mauser Sporter built by one of the best makers in the 257 Roberts caliber. This rifle would obviously be prices much higher if it wasn't for the refinishing.
