The percussion lock is a back action showing its original finish and fine scroll engraving. The barrel and action is mounted on am American walnut half stock. The wood remains in excellent condition for a rifle that dates to the mid 1850's. The stock is mounted with German silver fittings. All of the fittings, triggerguard, patch box, buttplate and decorative plates show fine hand engraving. Our research indicated that Rector was noted for his use of silver fittings and for the quality of his work. This rifle shows a 38 caliber bright excellent condition bore. An overall excellent higher grade percussion target rifle that remains in above average condition. This item was sourced out of Southern Ontario.
