  English 16 gauge fowling piece.  This item is a better than average example of an English percussion fowling piece.  The lock plate shows edge engraving and is marked Smith & Walker.  This could be a maker or the dealer who originally sold this item.  This shotgun shows a 41 1/2" barrel, english proofs and octagonal for 12 1/2" to the weading ring.  The barrel shows an overall even brown petina, no pitting and an excellent appearance.  The overall length is 57 3/4".  The wood is plain but in overall sound condition without breaks or cracks.  The rod is a replacement but matches the gun perfectly .  The lock is a percussion conversion from flint and is mechanically sound.  An excellent fowling piece or a great decorator.  Antique - no permit required.
