• Description:

  Antique pattern 1858, this piece was built for and issued to native sergeants.  The barrel is the correct smooth bore, the lock is Tower 1860 dated with crown vr markings.  The wood is sound but of lesser quality than standard British issue.  Sound finish overall metal and wood.  Originally built for a socket bayonet, this piece was later modified to take the standard saber bayonet.  A less common British military rifle.
