Snider Enfield Short Rifle
- Licensing Category: Antique
- Maker: Enfield
- Model: Snider
- Caliber/Gauge: .577
- Description:
SN 3420 (under the sight) is an early 1866-67 conversion of a 1861 Enfield. This short rifle is complete and original but on the rough side as to condition. This example is unusual as it shows a single star and 1. Note page 117 of "The treatise on Snider" by Skennerton indicating No MK1* conversions. This example shows a tight action with a shootable bore with corrosion and strong rifling. The metal shows an overall gray finish with pitting in the breech area. The wood has been cleaned but shows the Enfield rondel and #55 and 1866 date on the left side of the butt. The rod is a reproduction. An example of a very early and uncommon Snider short rifle. Antique - no permit required to purchase.
