Snider MK III built by BSA as a commercial rifle. The 36 1/2" barrel shows a bright excellent bore. This example is all original except for a larger front sight installed for a former owner. The lock plate shows the date 1875 and the BSA markings. The tail of the plate shows a non-English crown over a G.P.. This Snider was one of 10,000 long rifles built for the Portugese government under a 1874 contract. The base of the barrel shows a number X933 which was probably a Portugese issue number. Overall very good plus example for the Snider collection.
