- Description:
SN 13975 is one of 21,676 1911 Colts built for the U.S. Military by REM/UMC Aug 1918 to June 1919. This is an all matching and complete example with its original P proofed barrel. This pistol shows the EEC inspectors mark on the frame and the eagle E mark. In addition it shows all of the E inspector marks on the various parts. This late war pistol is noted for its rough thin finish. This example shows excellent markings. The machining/tool marks are quite visible especially on the frame. The slide shows some added finish especially on the top. Otherwise, this pistol is a better than average condition example. The bore shows light corrosion, sound rifling and rates as very good or better. The grips are original showing normal usage. The mag is a two tone but not a ringed example. This is a very good example for any Colt 1911 or US military collection. This piece shows a few minor dings and a small spot of pitting at the muzzle associated with holster storage.
