- Description:
Cased pair of percussion back action lock pistols by T. Tipping, a Birmingham maker with retail sales in London. He partnered with Lawden to become the firm of Tipping and Lawden 1837. This pair of pistols was probably built late 1820's to the early 1830's. The pistols show 9" octagon barrels, smooth bore, 65 caliber. The barrel and the back action locks show the T. Tipping name. The pair shows very good bores. The locks, hammers and tang show fine scroll engraving. The rammers are captive and original. The wood and checkering remains in excellent condition overall. This pair comes in their original case. The liner shows some light mothing and wear marks but is probably not the original liner. The case contains its original bullet mould marked 17, nipple wrench, non working key, cap tin and rod. The case comes with an original antique copper and brass powder flask that fits the case but is not original to the same. The cover of the ball compartment is a modern made replacement. This cased set shows an attractive appearance that can be a very nice addition to any antique pistol collection.
