  • Description:

SN 5 is a BSA built No 2 pattern sporting rifle built on the Lee-Speed action.  Ref: page 112-117 of "The Lee-Enfield Final Edition" by Skennerton.  The bolt dust cover shows the name G.E. Fulton of Staines, 1890-1905 and later Bisley camp.  This piece shows the #5 on the underside of the barrel, bolt and action.  The 303 caliber barrel measures at 24" and is mounted with the African style rear sight.  The bore is bright showing light corrosion but appears to be very shootable.  The wood is all original and correct for the #2 Pattern BSA rifle.  The butt is mounted with a steel butt plate showing an old repair to the butt trap door.  It would appear that this rifle was purchased by the Fulton's for resale and was probably ordered by them in it's present configeration. Despite it's obvious usage this rifle would make an excellent additon to any Enfield collection. Based on the one digit serial numbers this rifle may be from the earliest production of the BSA sporting rifles.  Otherwise,it may have been one of a small group built especially for G.E. Fulton.  It is interesting to note that the Knox form does not show the BSA logo.  The socket, breech, magazine and bottom plate shows edge engraving.  An interesting example of a BSA built Sporter. Non restricted status.
