• Description:

  SN B68601 shows a bright excellent bore.  This piece is a British No 5 (Jungle Carbine).  This piece is a variation of the standard carbine by the fact that it was refurbished at the Ishapore arsenal in India.  No. 4 or No.5 rifles were actually built in India.  See Skennerton at page 369 the final edition.  This piece is a Jungle Carbine that was stripped of its' British markings, refinished and refurbished at Ishapore.  This piece shows a Non British serial number, an added cross stock screw, an Ishapore 800 yard MK 2 rear sight and an (RF1) marked bolt head.  Close observation shows the buffed location of the prior British markings .  There are also traces of the original barrel proofing.  Based on the number of Indian #5 carbines on the market it can be assumed that the number refurbished are relatively scarce.  A variation of the Jungle Carbine.
