  • Description:

An excellent 64 caliber percussion rifle built by Beckwith London.  This rifle shows a bright very good plus bore in it's 36" barrel.  This rifle was probably built for a foreign customer  (probably India). The underside of the barrel shows #3200 26 and no proofs.  We presume this was built as a dangerous game rifle. The barrel shows an overall brown plumb finish with its original sights.  The lock and tang show nice by worn engraving and Beckwith. The wood is walnut with cheek rest, clean checkering and ebony cap.  This rifle was used but remains in better than average condition.  William A Beckwith was a gunmaker at 58 Skinner St., Snow Hill, London 1802-1841.  The underside of the barrel also shows a Sanskrit (India) mark. This rifle weighs in at 11.2 lbs.
