• Description:

  Model 1888/1890 Austrian Steyr Mannlicher rifle.  SN 5920 X shows a 30" barrel in smokeless 8 X 50 R caliber. Barrel & bolt are original matching numbers. Butt shows #1634T.  The bore rates at good plus with overall corrosion but sound rifling.  This variation is less common than other Austrian straight pull rifles.  This piece shows an old arsenal refinsh probably dating to the period of the 1890 conversion to 8x50 R caliber. The wood is sound showing it's original as issued finish plus the painted markings on the butt.  A very good example for the WW1 or military bolt action collector.  These rifles were issued and used by the Austra-Hungarian troops.
