- Description:
Antique Springfield Model 1884 carbine. This 45-70 carbine shows a bright bore with overall light corrosion. The serial number is 412652. The 22" barrel shows an overall grey finish, clear inspector marks and is mounted with the correct carbine rear sight and barrel band . The lock shows the eagle and a fainter U.S. Springfield marking. The stock is sound with the correct saddle ring and bar. The wood shows some usage marks but was overcleaned by some former owner which obliterated the stock markings. The buttplate is the correct standard 1877 carbine plate. A nice example of a trapdoor carbine that is not all that common in Canada. The Model 1884 Trapdoor was built from 1885 to 1890 with 200,000 rifles manufactured and only 20,000 carbines. Antique status- no permit required to purchase or own.
