Flint lock rifle made by Russom & Co of Troy NY, was later converted to percussion. This rifle shows a 37 1/2" octagonal barrel, rifled in 45 caliber. The rifle shows it's original lock plate and the conversion to persussion. The rifle shows an overall length of 54" with all brass fittings. The patch box is inlaid but shows the trapdoor riveted in place. The wood shows an excellent grain overall. The rear sight was moved from it's original position back 2". We assume this covered the makers name, but Troy is still visible. The barrel shows 7 grooves and very clean shootable bore. This antique rifle is an excellent example of 1800's New York gun makers work. Antique.
