- Description:
This is an interesting percussion pocket pistol built circa 1850's with English proofed barrel and frame. This piece shows a 3" barrel with a 45 caliber bore, Dolphin head hammer with floral engraving on the frame. There is one small intersting part of this pistol the name, John Egan, is engraved on the frame. John Egan, in 1847, established himself as a gunsmith in Halifax, Nova scotia. This pistol was obviously sold by Egan but may well have been assembled from components as imported by him. This pistol functions but shows a weak trigger return spring. A neat piece of Nova Scotia history.
