SN 10709 is the applied serial # by BSA and upgrading the rifle to use MKVII ammo. The right side of the ring shows the original serial # by Sparkbrook. For reference see page 448 of "The Lee Enfield" by Skennerton. The rifle was rebuilt and modified into the Lee-Metford MKII configuration by BSA. The conversion involved the removal of the safety catch, dustcover, sights etc. The rifle shows the 1800 yard rear sight. In addition a long range BSA target sight was mounted on the socket. An adjustable front sight was fitted and is marked E(Enfield). The rifle shows a bright excellent bore and is setup to use 303 MKVII ammo. The piece is mounted with a leather target sling. A scarce Lee Enfield variation seldom offered to the market.
