• Description:

  SN 17898 is a 2nd model 1890 built in 1893.  This rifle shows the earlier case colored frame turned silver.  The barrel is a factory mail-order, showing the 1908 Winchester proof as well as the 1912 mail-order proof.  The barrel shows clear markings and most of  its original but fading blue.  It is marked long, however the gunsmith who mounted it modified it to take short, long and long rifle.  (We have test fired this rifle and it functions perfectly using long rifle and short.)  The bore rates bright very good with light frosting .  The wood is sound with a dot marked initial on the right side of the grip.  A good working early 2nd model for the Winchester, 22 collector or shooter.
