• Description:

  SN 6C2409 is a Stevens contract No 4 MK 1 303 rifle built for Britain.  One of the 450,000 Savage/Stevens contract rifles built, this example shows a 5 groove very good bore.  The rifle was refurbished by one of the British arsenals.  The "US property" was removed in the process.  A Fazakerley alternative cocking piece was installed.  This No 4 shows matching numbers and excellent wood as supplied by Canada.  The socket is marked England as required by law for exported items at the time.  A clean sound example of a late or post war refurbished rifle.
