Sealed 10,000 Round Case of CIL Military .22 Ammo
We have just discovered a rather scarce Canadian Military or ammo collector item. An original CIL sealed case of 22 LR built and delivered to the Canadian Army in 1949. This sealed wood case contains 10,000 rounds of 22 long rifle (Military) super clean. Based on the date and the case markings the contents should be the LR-14 round as described in the Blyth and Dunn 1991 book. The boxes would be white and blue, with greased bullets and Canadian Government markings. Alternatively, it could contain the yellow and blue government marked boxes. See reference "The 22 Rimfires of Canada -Military contracts". The wood case weighs 85 lbs and shows shipment lot 127 to the military and TP for training purposes. The case remains in very sound condition, unopened with the original factory steel straps in place. There is no water staining or external damage to the case. A unique item for the Canadian Enfield or the serious ammo collector.
