  • Description:

This is a G Goulcher manufactured Newfoundland percussion birding gun chambered in about 9 bore (80 caliber).  Barrel is part round/octagon and is 46 3/4" in length with a poor dusty and rusty bore.  Metal surfaces are mostly a gun metal gray patina with surface pitting throughout while the lock is more of a blue/plum color.  Barrel has a rudimentary bead front sight and no rear sight.  It also has a roughly soldered underrib with a single pipe that secures a simple tulip shaped wooden ramrod.    The half stock is secured to the action via two wedges with brass plates.  Stock is checkered at the wrist and forearm and has a brass oval plate tacked into the top of the wrist.  An iron buttplate sits proud of the stock.  Hammer holds properly at half cock and releases as it should when the trigger is pulled.  What appears to be an original or period nipple is peened and squeezed together.  Should make a fine addition over the mantle or add character to your gunroom.
